An Ode to People on the Night Shift
Written By Charlie Walker
By Bliss Pidduck
To those with dark circles around your eyes,
This may come as no surprise,
While we collapse inside our beds
If not only to rest the thoughts in our heads.
It is YOU required to work the hour
To which many would retreat and cower
Tonight I write to those on the night shift
To those who save, decide, sort and sift.
Because, as morn comes back around
It’s like nothing has happened, not even sound
Tonight I know it’s just not true
Because, without the night workers,
We couldn’t have tomorrow without you.
