The day in the life for NHS workers

By Maddie Puttick, Leah Pinder & Lauren Jennings

Early in the morning, it is still dark
The other nurses and I get up and start
Get my kids ready and give them brekkie
I say goodbye to my husband and kids and give them a kiss.
Driving into town it's quiet because of lockdown,
I make my way to work and put my head down.

I get to work, put on my mask
And get my coffee in my flask.
Off I go to get my covid test
And sometimes I wish I could just have a rest.
Throughout the day I stay supportive
So the patients are always positive.
Time goes slow, slower than slow
Although I can see it's starting to snow.

As the sun sets we gather outside
We clap for those who save lives.
I get ready to go home, as I do I turn round and wave goodbye.
I get in my car and feel proud of what I have achieved so far

Thank you to the NHS
